Crypto-grade fair randomness.How it works
What is the Dice Roller?
A dice roller simulates rolling physical dice, from a single six-sided die to a fistful of polyhedral dice for a tabletop game. This roller supports the full standard set (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100) and understands NdX+M notation, so "2d6+3" rolls two six-sided dice and adds three. It shows each individual die result alongside the total, keeps a running roll history, offers an advantage or disadvantage toggle for d20 checks, and includes an optional sound effect. Every roll uses unbiased cryptographic randomness, so no side is ever favored.
How to use the dice roller
- Pick a die type or type a formula like 2d6+3.
- Set how many dice to roll and any modifier.
- For d20, optionally choose advantage or disadvantage.
- Press Generate (or the spacebar) to roll.
- Read each die and the total, and check the roll history below.
Use cases
Tabletop RPGs
Roll attack, damage, and skill checks for Dungeons & Dragons and similar games without physical dice.
Board games
Replace lost dice for any board game with a fair virtual d6 or d10.
Advantage rolls
Roll two d20s and automatically keep the higher or lower result for advantage and disadvantage mechanics.
Teaching statistics
Roll many dice to demonstrate probability distributions and expected values.
Random selection
Use a die to pick between numbered options quickly and fairly.
Frequently asked questions
Which dice are supported?
The standard polyhedral set: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100.
Does it understand dice notation?
Yes. Enter formulas like 3d8 or 2d6+3 and the roller rolls the dice and applies the modifier.
How do advantage and disadvantage work?
They roll two d20s and keep the higher result for advantage or the lower for disadvantage, as in many role-playing systems.
Are the rolls fair?
Yes. Each face is equally likely thanks to unbiased cryptographic randomness.
Can I see each die, not just the total?
Yes. Every individual die is displayed along with the combined total and modifier.
Is there sound?
There is an optional dice sound you can toggle on or off.
